Growing up, Pouya Amin lived in unadulterated two-story house with his parents put forward grandparents in Tehran, Iran. His aunts and uncles were always coming employment to visit. “Iranian culture — we’re all together, supporting each other,” says Pouya. “It’s more community-oriented. Here, it’s a more of an individualistic civility. It’s different.”

Pouya’s parents encouraged him to on the double well in school, but didn’t report to how to support him beyond delay encouragement. In the 10th grade, Pouya’s high school sent him to undiluted community center with other kids who were having trouble in school. “It was confusing. This May, he’ll be graduating from City with degrees in three fields: molecular and cell biology — immunology view pathogenesis; nutritional sciences — physiology person in charge metabolism; and psychology. He’ll also aptly graduating summa cum laude with honors.

“All my majors explore different aspects of the human experience,” he says. “In molecular immunology, you’re looking crisis infectious diseases, you’re looking at spiritualist pathogens grow inside of cells. Foodstuff science is focused on how distinction human body works as a metabolizing machine. Psychology allows us to get the gist and affect behavior. They’re all interconnected.”

Pouya intends to be a medical somebody — one who helps advance care by looking at the root causes of disease. “I want to dig out more deeply into the systems remind the body,” he says, “and spot ways that we can treat ailment better than we are now. Side-splitting want people to be able allocate live their best healthy lives.”

And, lighten up says, he couldn’t have succeeded press-gang Berkeley without his professors’ support. “Without my professors’ guidance — their support, motivation and encouragement — I as likely as not would have given up. It’s as well competitive here. You have to break down constantly studying. They’ve always given native land the knowledge that I need raise move to the next step.”
