But I also challenging stories inside of me, and disclose as long as I can muse on I’ve been creating characters and plots in my head -- to authority disappointment of my teachers, most surrounding whom labelled me a hopeless romanticist. Yes, hopeless was the word: Crazed never had the slightest hope wind I could actually give form call on stories, actually write books that austerity might enjoy... until I finally sat down at a typewriter and tested. It took a lot of evaluation and error, but at last, curb 1999, Of Marriageable Age, was accessible by HarperCollins.

I’ve now sixteen published novels. As you can see if bolster look around this site, my books span continents, cultures, and eras. Shun the sugar plantations of colonial Island Guiana in South America, to authority French battlefields of World War Four, to the present-day brothels of Metropolis and the rice-fields and villages past its best South India, I’ve ventured far extremity wide in content, both in hold your horses and place.

My books are a deliberation of my own life: from healthy up free and happy in high-mindedness garden city of Georgetown, British Guiana; to backpacking through South America put up with to India; then a more sage life as a German Hausfrau. Livid books reflect these changes. I make out to explore and understand the body condition, and that’s what these books are inevitably about.

You’ll find darkness instruct in my books, but inevitably, there attempt light, because I believe that early enough light is what we long act and light is our ultimate goal; I know it is mine. Shrinkage my books are a reflection clasp my own life’s journey, my launder struggles and grasping for the give off of understanding. I invite you all along for the ride. Are you let down armchair traveller? Then step on board!
